Arizona Parenting Alliance

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:09 pm by Bill

The Arizona Parenting Alliance (APA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan education and advocacy organization dedicated to reducing social ills, strengthening families and improving the lives of Arizona’s children by promoting involved and responsible parenting, positive youth development and responsible images in media.

APA is an alliance of community, business, media, faith and government leaders and parents, who believe the single most determinant of Arizona’s future is the strength of Arizona’s families.

Across the political and cultural landscape, people have come to the same conclusion about the current epidemic of problems that face our communities; that America is in trouble because America’s families are in crisis. The weekly headlines about youth violence, child abuse, drug abuse and teen pregnancies have forced individuals across the political spectrum to recognize that there is something fundamentally wrong that cannot be solved by the most well-intentioned government programs alone. It is a national concern that must be addressed by all. Action must be taken by leaders in the federal and state level of government, as well as in communities, churches, businesses, families and in our individual lives.

FyberSearch Implements New and Improved Search Engine Technology that Increases Search Efficiency and Relevancy
FyberSearch has upgraded the core search engine technology that returns more relevant results in less time.

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Burien, WA - January 28, 2005 — The search engine FyberSearch has been upgraded with a re-designed core search engine program that provides users with more relevant results in less time.

This is the first of two major updates that will be made to FyberSearch in the near future. This update focused on processing data in a more effective way, which ended up improving the speed and relevancy of search results. The second update will focus primarily on the relevancy of the search results and giving users more advanced features to use.

“I am very pleased with the new version of FyberSearch and cannot wait until the second update is made.” Says Nathan Enns, Owner and Founder of FyberSearch. “I plan to make FyberSearch as relevant and eficent as possible.”

With this update comes more tools for users to check out. Visit http://www.fybersearch.com/help-and-features.php for complete information.

One development is the integration of XML technology. You can now view search results as XML feed or RSS feed for free by using the corresponding links from the FyberSearch Web Search results page.

Another valuable improvement is that no more than one result per domain name will be displayed unless the user specifies otherwise. This prevents SPAM to some extent and gives users more valuable and unique information.

Possibly one of the most unique features found at FyberSearch is the “keyword density” search setting. This tool has been upgraded as well and now allows you to view web pages that contain your search query at least X times. X=the number you specify.

About FyberSearch
About FyberSearch:
FyberSearch is a search engine technology company founded by 18 year old Nathan Enns in November 2003. Now 19, Nathan continues to be the sole owner of the business. FyberSearch’s mission is “To provide users with the level of control they need to find the results they desire.” FyberSearch offers many advanced features that users can easily modify until they find the information they are looking for.

Arizona Agave proposed for removal from Endangered Species list

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:07 pm by Bill

Arizona Agave

Arizona Agave proposed for removal from Endangered Species list.

Proposed Removal of the Plant Agave arizonica (Arizona agave) From the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Plants

US Fish and Wildlife Service

ARIZONA AGAVE PROPOSED TO BE REMOVED FROM ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST The Arizona agave – a species listed as endangered since 1984 – has been confirmed to be a hybrid. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed removing it from the list of plants protected under the Endangered Species Act. Hybrid plants – a phenomenon common among agaves – are not eligible for protection under the Endangered Species Act. Under the Act, it has been illegal to import, export or transport Arizona agave across state lines, or conduct interstate or international commerce or maliciously damage the plant. If delisted, the Arizona agave would continue to receive limited protection under Arizona’s Native Plant law, which requires a permit to remove plants from the wild or to sell them. The plant was first described in 1970 as a unique species (Agave arizonica) from specimens collected in the New River Mountains of central Arizona. The 8 to14-inch diameter and 12 to 16-inch tall succulent sprouts a flower stalk up to 13 feet tall. Fewer than 100 plants are known in the wild, all in Gila, Yavapai and Maricopa counties on the Tonto National Forest and private land in chaparral and juniper grasslands. Since the listing, a growing body of evidence has lead to the determination that the plant – found only where the range of Toumey’s agave (A. toumeyana var. bella) and the golden-flowered agave (A. chrysantha) overlap – is indeed a hybrid of the two parent-species. Controlled experiments on the reproductive limitations of the Arizona agave conducted at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix have confirmed that the plant is a hybrid. The Service published its proposal to delist the Arizona agave in today’s Federal Register. The proposal is available at http://arizonaes.fws.gov. Comments are being sought through March 14, 2005, and should be addressed to the Field Supervisor, Arizona Ecological Services Field Office, 2321 West Royal Palm Road, Suite 103, Phoenix, AZ 85021. Public hearing requests must be received by Feb. 28, 2005. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal Federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting and enhancing fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The Service manages the 95-million-acre National Wildlife Refuge
System, which encompasses 544 national wildlife refuges, thousands of small wetlands and other special management areas. It also operates 69 national fish hatcheries, 64 fishery resources offices and 81 ecological services field stations. The agency enforces federal wildlife laws, administers the Endangered Species Act, manages migratory bird populations, restores nationally significant fisheries, conserves and restores wildlife habitat such as wetlands, and helps foreign and Native American tribal governments with their conservation efforts. It also oversees the Federal Assistance program, which distributes hundreds of millions of dollars in excise taxes on fishing and hunting equipment to state fish and wildlife agencies. -FWS-

How many herbs and spices do you cook with on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis? Chef Rachel, author of The Garden of Eating, cooking instructor and healthy cooking-coach will inspire you to double (or triple!) the size of your spice rack, add pizzazz to your meals and snacks, and expand your repertoire of family-friendly recipe. You will savor new flavors, discover fascinating facts about the healing properties of culinary herbs and spices, enjoy a complete meal in each class, and take home printed recipes plus prep, cooking, and serving tips. Come hungry. Participants will be entered into a $25 drawing to be used at Desert Sage Herbs. These classes are limited in space and will fill up quickly.
